How to import pictures from camera and organize them well ?

How do you usually import and organize your pictures ?

1. Connect your camera.
2. Find and open the camera folder in Windows Explorer.
3. Select all pictures and copy them.
4. Open the folder where you want them to be placed, then create a new folder and name it(maybe use the date as it's name).
5. Paste pictures into the new folder.
6. Wait until the copying ends.
7. Delete pictures in the camera.
8. Disconnect the camera.
9. Several days later, do above eight tasks again...

But what is 'Date Format' used for ?
